The Framework

Each chapter contains a true short story, although I’ve taken liberty of changing names and altering other facts, which demonstrates a moment when I learned a stubborn truth.

Stubborn Truth

Each chapter offers the stubborn truth in concise language, in case you just want to skip to the bottom line.

Micro-Bios

Each chapter contains quotes from famous people to help illustrate the point. Then at the end, I share a mini-bio for every person quoted. Here’s an example:

Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910)

Russian Writer

Born in Russia, Leo Tolstoy grew up to become an author and master of realistic fiction, as well as one of the world's greatest novelists. He is best known for his two longest works, War And Peace and Anna Karenina, which are commonly regarded as among the finest novels ever written. Later in life, Tolstoy also achieved fame as a moral and religious teacher. His writings have been described as not just a works of art, but more akin to a “piece of life.” A fellow writer commented that if the world could write itself, “it would write like Tolstoy.” For almost all who knew him and read his works, Leo Tolstoy was not just one of the greatest writers who ever lived, but a living symbol of the search for life’s meaning.

“A transcendent debut. Mike Kohler’s writing brings wisdom from the ages to the modern world.”

About

Mike Kohler

It started with a desire to pass down wisdom to my children. In my 25-year career, I’ve obtained tremendous amounts of book, and practical, knowledge about the body, healthcare and our legal system. Yet, I remain on a journey to collect the stubborn truths and wisdom that apply to every day life, so readers can excel at any endeavor. I’m a husband and father, a Registered Nurse, former hospital Chief Operating Officer, and now an attorney who assists other healthcare professionals and their families with challenges requiring legal solutions. I believe every challenge has a solution, and often the answers lie with those who have gone before us. I look for clues from the best thinkers, and apply the wisdom to current circumstances. And wisdom, taken to heart, can become one's own truth. I would never tell you that I have all the answers, but I do know those answers exist, and this book is his attempt to join you in your never ending search.
